Providing young children with an enriched
early learning environment will vary, as I believe all educators have a
different opinion and ideal structure. Therefore I am going to outline how I
would structure my learning environment for my students and why.
First of all the most important aspects is
to provide the children with an enriched literacy and numeracy early learning
environment. The use of Technology, toys, blocks, paint and educators cognitive
output is elements, which will have an impact on the child literacy and
numeracy learning. I also believe that by including family members into the environment
as much as possible will enhance there ability as to how they can have an
influence upon the child’s early learning of literacy and numeracy out of care
hours. I as a future educator feel that the teaching technique structured
around play, and for the focus of activities to be child driven. I strongly emphasize the children driven play
with guidance of educators as I believe children are a lot smarter than what
many think and we often can underestimate a child’s thinking. I will provide
the children with guidance through setting up the environment suited for what
my aim is for the day or session. I will then let the day lead itself in
regards to the children. I will provide the children with a lot of options and
suggestions in order for them to enhance and explore the use of literacy and
numeracy. The children’s work and informative posters I will have positioned
around the room to help create a fun environment and to also show family
members the children’s creations and it will help create the environment I am
wanting to achieve. I as an early childhood educator also believe that the
early learning of a young child’s numeracy and literacy can be significantly
enhanced by having an opened mind and allowing the young children to interact
with both themselves and other children. This will help to develop the child’s
early numeracy learning through the development of communication skills and
exploring others features, which can help the children to identify what they
look and feel. Things like texture of their skin, hair, nails, there facial features
and a child’s actions can spark another child’s thinking, which leads to
numeracy and literacy learning.
