As many educators approaches and beliefs are different due to possibly there childhood history and how they learnt best and what they enjoyed the most. However not all agree and the most important aspect as an educators is to communicate with the child’s parents and to form a good bond and connection with them and there child’s learning. Parents I believe is the most important aspect in a child’s early learning, as they may prefer different strategies or they may feel the child needs advanced activities or possibly easier activities. Once a good connection has been made with the family/parents I believe the child’s literacy and numeracy learning can be advanced. Many educators do not follow these strategies and which I believe could not be a positive approach towards a child’s numeracy and literacy learning as educators and family members. I believe they have the power to educate parents with strategies and numeracy and literacy learning activities for their child. By including family members into their early learning it can have a significant contribute to a young child’s awareness and immersion of they key literacy and numeracy concepts. I have witness and worked with an educator who does not believe that parents are an important resource to communicate with as they feel that parents have a different aspect on learning and may educate the children with an incorrect manner. As this was the educator’s theory and attitude it caused many parents to disagree and argue the concept. An issue for example was from a child’s dad who complained as they felt that the educator was hiding the child’s actions and putting a fake profile to child’s name to the family members. It was a significant issue for the educator and the parent, which I felt was un-necessary. However from this it allowed me as a future educator to learn and identify that having a positive relationship with parents is just as important as the relationship you have with the child.
